What is a Drum Circle?
A drum circle is a fully interactive group of people creating and sharing
rhythmic music-making. This uplifting experience results in harmony,
camaraderie and a feeling of community among the participants.
Regardless of the group's level of musical or rhythmical expertise, the drum
circle facilitator helps guide, direct and orchestrate the group to its highest
potential, collectively playing hand drums and other percussion instruments.
Drum circles, and other rhythm-based events, are used in schools, hospitals,
senior centers, community centers, libraries, YMCAs and daycare centers as
part of music, wellness or recreational programs.
Within the corporate and small business environment, drumming is used as a
team-building tool for management training programs, leadership
workshops, offsite meetings, retreats and sales conferences.
Using drums and world rhythms as the vehicle, many subjects can be
explored such as unity through diversity, teamwork, dealing with change,
creative thinking, group vision or a corporate mission.
By its very nature, a drum circle is an interactive rhythm-based event that
will result in stress reduction, community building, and a celebration of life
that men, women and children of all ages can benefit from in countless ways.
